    About This Event

    About the Workshop

Spend your afternoon painting San Francisco's most iconic views in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming outdoor watercolor class. This outdoor workshop balances clear, guided instruction with a deeply relaxed, social atmosphere. Designed as a creative escape from the weekly grind, the session invites you to slow down, connect with your surroundings, and translate the city’s beauty onto paper through the fluid medium of watercolor.

    The Experience

Facilitated by local artist and community builder Jean, this workshop is structured to be as effortless as it is fun. Jean curates a warm, inclusive energy right from the start, offering clear step-by-step guidance on watercolor fundamentals while giving you the freedom to explore your own artistic style.

The environment is completely flexible. You can chat and share laughs with fellow creators or simply lose yourself in your painting, soaking up the park vibe and the California sunshine. Jean will be floating around to offer helpful tips, thoughtful inputs, and encouragement whenever you need it.

What is Included & What to Bring

    • All professional painting materials, watercolors, brushes, and paper are included in your ticket.
    • All you need to bring is your own cozy setup to sit on, such as a favorite picnic blanket, a lawn chair, or a cushion!

    Who Is This For?

This event is reserved for East Bay residents living within Alameda County and Contra Costa County. Please do not RSVP if you live outside of these counties.

This workshop is entirely beginner-friendly! Whether you haven't picked up a paintbrush since grade school or you paint regularly and just want to enjoy a creative afternoon in the community, you are welcome here. It is the perfect solo date, weekend activity with a close friend, or way to meet fellow local creatives.

    Weather & Logistics

Because this is a fully outdoor experience designed to let us enjoy the natural beauty of the city, the event is weather-dependent. In the rare case of heavy rain or unsafe weather conditions, all participants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance with a rain date or rescheduling option.

This is a free Picnic & Watercolor Workshop! Thank you East Bay Regional Parks District and Urban Strategies Council for sponsoring this class! Expect a discussion on how to make parks more equitable and give your feedback on the EBRPD’s District Plan update.
